5 Unique Things to do in Omaha

by Nancy Heim-berg
With so many wonderful and exciting adventures around every corner, you may be overwhelmed with all there is to do in beautiful Omaha. What many people don’t realize are the many unique and interesting activities available that residents and guests of the area either don’t know about or don’t take advantage of. Below we have listed five activities that are different from the ‘same old same old’ thing you may be resorting to when you venture through the city. We hope they are everything (and more!) that we believe them to be – enjoy!

1.) Grab your sleeping bag and pajamas and head to The Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium for an overnight adventure! Held year-round from 7pm to 9am, visitors are able to camp out and explore the zoo with a guided morning hike and full day at the zoo.

2.) Jump in your car and grab some candy for a flick at the drive-in movies at Falconwood Park. Offered summer and fall in Bellevue, the drive-in offers food trucks, concessions and a bar – what more could you ask for during a movie-going experience?!

3.) Calling all beer lovers! Take a behind the scenes tour every Wednesday and Saturday of Blue Bloods Brewing Co.’s taproom and brewery that sit above a 5,000 square foot cave!

4.) Want to take in the beauty and magic of Omaha nature all year? Then be sure to visit Lauritzen Gardens for their living plant museum, as well as other stunning exhibits. You can even learn how to make your own wreath, design beautiful centerpieces and take in some gardening tips from their expert staff!

5.) Are you a history buff yearning for information on old Omaha? Then look no further than the Restoration Exchange Omaha public walking tours, where you can learn about the city’s history and explore some of Omaha’s oldest and most charming neighborhoods.
